Elements and Performance Criteria
- Plan and prepare for packaging
- Access, interpret and apply compliance documentation relevant to the bulk packaging and storage of the product
- Receive, interpret and clarify shift changeover details
- Communicate with other personnel using approved communication methods
- Select personal protective equipment appropriate for work activities
- Select appropriate type of auxiliary equipment for work activities
- Perform equipment pre-start checks to ensure equipment is ready for operation
- Identify, address and report potential risks and hazards
- Identify, address and report environmental issues
- Adhere to emergency procedures to ensure safety of personnel and plant
- Use approved dust suppression and extraction methods
- Ensure area is well ventilated before entry into work area
- Prepare site for positioning of any mobile equipment used for packaging operations
- Position and stabilise any mobile equipment used according to work plan
- Check condition of packaging meeting work requirements
- Start-up equipment in sequence
- Package product
- Read and interpret data from equipment indicators to determine packaging efficiency
- Continuously inspect plant and identify operational defects and potential problems
- Adjust equipment to optimise performance
- Control feed to packaging unit
- Take samples of product
- Seal and accurately label package to ensure product is secured during transit
- Prevent unauthorised entry to personnel and maintain security of packaging area
- Complete all required documentation clearly, concisely and on time
- Pass on end of shift information to oncoming shift
- Store product
- Conduct housekeeping activities
- Shutdown in sequence and/or isolate equipment
